Maintaining your energetic health.
Firstly let me say I am sorry for being quiet recently. Since my move back to East Sussex there has been a lot going on and a whole house renovation to do before we can live and work comfortably in our space.
However, we are nearly there and I have already begun giving Reiki treatments and with this enforced period of retreat from work I have found that many things in my little world and the wider world have changed. This has given rise to a range of new ideas, with some help from my team in spirit, and I am very excited about how these new groups, courses and workshops will be able to help people navigate through the often choppy waters of modern day life. Some of these will be in person in East Sussex and some will be for a wider global audience with the power of Zoom!
I digress. I wanted to speak about energy! Not just any energy, but our own personal vibration. Every day society talks about this without us really thinking about what it means; common phrases like “I feel really low today” or “I was on such a high” people are referring to their vibration.
It is my mission to care for my personal vibe with the same love and care that I perhaps might nurture my children or grandchildren and if I find something negatively impacting on it I will either move away from it or if I am unable to, work extra hard with meditation, EFT, Reiki and the other tools I have at my disposal, until the negative impact has been managed. It is particularly important for energy therapists to maintain their vibrational health in order that they can be an effective practitioner for their clients.
How can you tell if your vibe is not quite as high as it might be?
- You find yourself living in your head, replaying negative thoughts, worrying about what might happen
- You don’t know why, but you feel tired all the time
- Your physical health may suffer OR your vibe may suffer because of a physical health problem (just remember mind, body, spirit and emotion are all linked!)
- You can’t sleep well and sometimes wake with the 3am mental monkeys doing somersaults!
- You worry about things that are completely out of your control
- You find yourself acting out of character, perhaps snapping at loved ones
- You lose the ability to see the good in the world; whether that be something in nature or the good in people
- You make poor nutritional choices that do not nourish your body
- You find yourself craving alcohol or other drugs
A young man was my teacher today.
The teacher that presented itself as inspiration for this blog post was a young man who was part of a police, high speed, car chase. Let me explain. I stay well away from television, I don’t watch the main stream news media, but I think it is important to know what is happening in the wider world around me and so I sit on the edge, peeping in, just keeping an eye from a variety of different sources, then using my inner knowing to discern what feels authentic. Today I came across a video posted online from a local newspaper. It was a high speed car chase and because I was procrastinating I decided to watch the whole thing! I did so without thinking. Then really wished I hadn’t!
I awoke at 5 this morning and felt well, my energy levels were good, my vibe was bright and shiny. In fact I recall thinking how well I was feeling. Why am I telling you this? Because after watching the video my energy levels went down and I felt physically ill. It was outstandingly obvious to me what had just happened. My work involves and in fact relies on the understanding that I am very energy sensitive. It is easy for me pick up the energy of an animal or person and often I will immediately know if they have a pain in a particular part of their body or if they are unhappy or traumatized in some way. This is an essential part of animal energy healing or communication work in my opinion.
I had picked up not only on the adrenaline of the situation, but also the energy of the officers and the young man being pursued who I believed to be under the influence of drugs, a look at his arrest photograph afterwards confirmed my feelings. It took me a while to re-set and clear this energy dip from my field.
In these modern times we are bombarded with information 24 hours a day, if we allow it. The news, documentaries, social media et al peddling suffering and division. Bad news sells more copy. If someone is already in a state of low vibration and allows the negative aspects of these things into their life then that person is helping to keep their frequency in a low state, quite unwittingly. That is not to say that we should unaware of the suffering that is in the world, but if we can do nothing to aid a situation all that can be done is to offer love and prayers and then allow it to leave us. Constant replaying will not help us or the issue / victims.
My advice is to become aware of how thoughts, people and situations effect you.
If you come away from meeting a friend and always feel lousy then ask yourself why this is? Are they a good friend to you? Are they an energy vampire or maybe a narcissist? If this is the case do you really want them in your life?
If your brain runs on autopilot a lot of the day then take control of it. You alone have power over your thoughts. Change the script, bring yourself back to the present moment.
If there is a situation that is making you feel low can you change it or remove yourself from it? If that is not possible then what can you do to change how you are interacting with the situation? What can be done differently to lessen the impact on your wellbeing?
Take an energy audit on a daily basis until you are in the habit of being able to recognise if something is having a negative impact on your energetic wellbeing.
We are quite well educated with regard to physical health and wellbeing, but energy health is just as important, as I said before mind, body, emotion and spirit are all intrinsically linked. So get into the habit of taking care of yours. If you feel unable to do this alone then reach out, find a good holistic therapist, counsellor, CBT practitioner, EFT therapist, Reiki and other therapies can all help, find the one that’s a good fit for you.
