Reiki Level 1, known traditionally as Shoden meaning The Awakening, is the foundation level of Usui Reiki. This course focuses primarily on self healing, self awareness and personal growth while opening the door to a lifelong relationship with Reiki energy.
Taught one to one, over 5 sessions, at a pace and time to suit you, this course offers a supportive and personal learning experience either online via Zoom or in person.
Reiki is far more than simply a healing technique. For many people it becomes a path of transformation, helping them move through fear, anxiety, stress and emotional overwhelm while developing greater calm, balance and connection within everyday life.
The Level 1 initiation process gently opens the recipient to Reiki energy and for many this can be a profound and life changing experience.

- The history and origins of Usui Reiki
- Energetic anatomy and awareness
- The connection between mind, emotions and physical wellbeing
- Traditional Japanese meditation techniques
- Grounding and creating sacred healing space
- Self healing practices
- The many practical uses and benefits of Reiki
- The Five Pillars and precepts of Reiki
Although the emphasis is primarily on self healing, Reiki Level 1 also enables you to offer Reiki to family, friends and companion animals.
This course forms the essential foundation for those wishing to continue their Reiki journey towards Reiki Level 2 Practitioner training.
